Mother Of Murder Victim Katie Foreman Tells Court Of Nightmares About Daughter Being Burnt Alive

The mother of murdered lawyer Katie Foreman has told a Sydney court she has nightmares about her 30-year-old daughter being burnt alive. Katie Foreman died in a deliberately lit fire in her home in the Wollongong suburb of Corrimal on October 27, 2011.

Three people facing a sentencing hearing for her murder include her former lover Bradley Rawlinson, former client and friend Wendy Evans and accomplice Michelle Proud.
After a two-month trial Rawlinson and Proud were found guilty of murder by a jury in April, while Evans pleaded guilty to the charge. In a victim impact statement, Katie's mother Anne told the Supreme Court she still has nightmares about her daughter being burnt alive.

Fighting back tears she said her daughter was a kind and compassionate person and her violent death has changed the lives of her family.

"I feel her with me," she said.
"I suffer recurrent nightmares of Katie being burned alive.
"I see her in my dreams, I hear her screaming 'mum, mum'."

Ms Foreman told the court her daughter's murder was a "vicious and disgusting crime".
She said she raised Katie, who went on to forge a successful career for herself, as a single mother on a part-time wage.

"Katie was my rock, my pride and joy, and I feel completely lost without her," she said.
Prosecutors have previously argued Rawlinson and Evans were having a secret affair and arranged to have the victim murdered to get her out of their lives. The court has previously been told an accelerant was used to start the fire in the victim's bedroom.

Prosecutor Chris Maxwell QC has called for Evans and Rawlinson to receive a life sentence.
But Rawlinson's barrister Winston Terracini SC has argued it should not be life because his client did not physically light the fire.

The sentencing hearing before Justice Ian Harrison continues.
