STOKE CITY FORWARD AND EX NIGERIAN INTERNATIONAL PETER ODEMWINGIE IS ON THE VERGE OF JOINING LIGUE 1 SIDE MARSEILLE ON LOAN, ACCORDING TO UNDISCLOSED SOURCES TOLD ESPN FC.
Nigeria international Odemwingie, 34, has been targeted by OM, who have been looking to bolster their striking options during the transfer window and they have been linked with a host of forwards.
Odemwingie has found himself well down the pecking order at Stoke this season, making just seven appearances so far this term.
The former West Bromwich Albion and Cardiff City player started against Crystal Palace in the FA Cup at the weekend, but with Stoke now out of the competition his first-team opportunities are set to be even more limited.
Peter Odemwingie is in the final six months of his contract at the Britannia Stadium and Stoke are happy to let him move on to trim their squad and reduce their wage bill.
He will become the second Premier League player to join Marseille in the last 24 hours after Newcastle’s Florian Thauvin returned to the Stade Velodrome on loan.
