Jose Mourinho Calls Out Chelsea Supporters Again
Following Tuesday’s 1-1 draw between Chelsea and Liverpool in the first leg of the League Cup semi-final, Blues boss Jose Mourinho called for louder support at Stamford Bridge. It was not the first time he has been critical of the home fans this season, saying in December that the his players felt like they were playing in an “empty stadium” in their victory over QPR.
Two legs is difficult, Anfield is difficult and with this result we transform a two-leg semi-final into a one-leg semi-final at Stamford Bridge. If Stamford Bridge can give us 25 per cent of the emotion Anfield gives Liverpool, I think we can do it.
Chelsea have an excellent record at home under Jose Mourinho, both in his current and previous stints as manager. They have only failed to win at Stamford Bridge once this season, a draw with Schalke in the Champions League. That amazing form is part of the reason they currently sit atop the Premier League standings, with a five point lead over second-place Manchester City.
The second leg of the semi-final will be played January 27. The winner will play either Tottenham or Sheffield United in the final at Wembley.
